Fichtelite, C 19 H 34 , is a saturated hydrocarbon mineral that is monoclinic, space group P2 1 , with a 10.706(4), b 7.458(2), c 10.824(7) Aa, beta 105.85(3) degrees , V 831.4(8) Aa 3 , Z = 2. Its structure was determined by direct methods using 1105 observed reflections [F> or =3sigma F ], with a full-matrix least-squares refinement, producing an R index of 4.6%. The fichtelite molecule contains three nonlinearly fused six-membered carbon rings with an angular methyl, a methyl and an isopropyl group coordinated to the rings in the structure.
